Lindsay Félix
Co-Founder | Writer
Lindsay Félix is a writer and creative partner with a background spanning ghostwriting, technical writing, instructional design, and strategic consulting. She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from George Mason University and spent years as a community college English professor.
Lindsay’s work centers on helping people and organizations tell their stories by rendering material that seems too complicated, technical, fragmented, or emotionally weighted to make sense of, and turning it into a clear story.
She began working with Kate Scarcella on her memoir, helping weave together both Kate’s and Jill’s perspectives into a single braided narrative. That collaboration grew into a creative partnership, with Lindsay serving as the “decoder ring” to Kate’s systems thinking. In that role, she helped Kate shape her TEDxPortsmouth talk, translating Kate’s systems language of containment, stabilization, assessment, and restoration into a story that resonated with audiences.
Through that process, Lindsay and Kate saw that the concepts applied not only to Kate, but to anyone who has experienced a life update they didn’t see coming. They developed the Human Zero-Day framework for anyone who needed a way to start designing life as who they are now.

Kate Scarcella
Co-Founder | Cybersecurity Architect
Kate Scarcella is a cybersecurity architect, speaker, and thought leader with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations prepare for and recover from their most significant technology failures. She has advised Fortune 50 companies, served on IBM’s Security Board of Advisors, and chairs the CI/CD Cybersecurity SIG at the Continuous Delivery Foundation.
After the death of her wife, Jill, following nearly 36 years together, Kate found herself facing the one catastrophic event no architecture could prevent. In searching for a way forward, she discovered that the same principles used to restore compromised systems offered an unexpected framework for understanding grief, identity, and what remains after life is irrevocably changed.
Today, Kate’s work bridges technology and the human experience, exploring trust, restoration, and resilience through the Human Zero-Day framework. Her TEDx talk, I Lost My Wife, Then Used Cybersecurity to Restore Myself invites audiences to rethink how we respond to life’s catastrophic updates.
Her forthcoming memoir, We Chose the Tent, traces Kate and Jill’s love story of remarkable endurance, from life in a beach tent to a home filled with dinner parties, poems, and faith. This memoir is Kate’s tribute to the woman who shared a life with her.
